WHY HEAT PUMP WATER HEATERS?

Water heating is the second largest energy expense in Australian homes.

Heat pumps cost more to purchase but significantly less to operate than other water heaters. How much you save depends on what heat pump you purchase, where you live and how much hot water you consume.

Hot Water Savings is the only company to combine specifications for heat pumps in the Australian market with real usage data from households right across Australia, giving you the certainty you need to invest in a heat pump water heater.

We can calculate the return on investment whether you live in a three-bedroom house in the ACT or a five-bedroom home in Port Douglas - and just about everything in between.

      Personalised

        How heat pump water
        heaters work

        1

An air-source heat pump transfers heat from the outside air to heat your water, typically to about 55 degrees

          2

A refrigerant gas is compressed to raise its pressure and temperature.

            3

The heat is transferred from the hot, pressurised refrigerant to the water in the storage tank.

              4

The refrigerant is sent back to the compressor and the process restarts until the temperature set point is reached.

                OUR STORY

                We're on a mission

Hot Water Savings was borne out of the frustration over high energy bills and underutilisation of quality technology for water heating. At present, only 5% of Australians use heat pump water heaters. We believe this is due partly to uncertainty and some outdated myths. Our vision is to bring easy to understand, data-driven recommendations to every Australian household so we can all reduce our utility bills and greenhouse gas emissions.
